The eight things to include
- Your business name, address and contact details (and VAT number if registered)
- The customer's name and contact details
- A quote number and the date
- How long the quote is valid
- Each item or service with quantity and price
- VAT, only if you are VAT registered
- Your terms: deposit, payment terms and what is not included
- How to accept
Why acceptance matters
A quote that is accepted in writing settles the price before the work starts. In Bookkeeping & Invoicing the customer clicks Accept on the quote you sent โ binding under the ECT Act โ and it becomes an invoice carrying the same numbers. You can bill a deposit now and the balance on completion off the same quote.
